One of the 'joys' of staying home everyday with my girls is opportunities to experience house work with them. One day this week, we were putting away Daddy's socks and....what follows is the 'help' I got!!

Where does the time go?

Summer just flew by at our house!! We had so much fun with Jake being off for the summer. We did lots of Sea World! The girls never get tired of going....and neither does Papa :) We are looking forward to going to Sea World when it is not 105 degrees outside...that will be a welcome change.

Jacob is teaching again this year....same school, different grade, and different subject! He is enjoying his new subject (English) and has a great group of kids.

Over the summer Sadie decided just to start speaking in FULL sentences! Crazy... she is soooo funny (or at least I think she is)! She just skipped right over the put 2 to 3 words together and went right to the 8 word sentences. Wow! I guess when you have an older sister...you need to be heard!

Sadie also potty trained over the summer. She went to Sugar's house for 4 days...and came back with big girl panties and a great desire to wear them. If you ever want someone to start the potty training process for you...my Mom is the one! So far...she has initiated both girls and got them to about 40% in a few days! Then she sends them home for us to finish.... Sadie still wears her diaper at night, but that is it :) Way to go Sadie!!

Cute things about Sadie right now:
- She calls Hannah "Hannah Grace" when she is looking for her...Grace is her middle name :)
- She recently looked at Hannah and I folding a mountain of clothes and said "Are you kidding me guys?" Hilarious!!
- The girl absolutely loves flip flops. She puts the one the right feet and gets the strap between her toes impressively well for a 2 yr old :)
- Loves to eat "butterjelly" one word for lunch!
- When she is poo*ing on the potty she calls it "Big Tootin" Super cute!
- On our way home from church one night I asked Sadie what is learned about....she said "Jesus is......ummmm....Jesus is.....purple!" Really? Well I guess I have never been taught that lesson, but don't you know Jesus is smiling about that!
- Pretty much every night she is thankful for "Shamu, dolphins, and pirates" in prayer time...thank you Sea World :) In her mind...Shamudolphin is one word sometimes :)
- She counts so cute 1,2,3,4(sometimes 4 is omitted)5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13(firteen),13,13,13,13,13,13,13,20!
- Mimics her sister all the time! Whatever Hannah is doing she wants to do...which is probably why her baby doll's name is Peyton too...just like Hannah's :)
- Thinks giving a kiss and a big hug will get her out of sticky situations :) It does not hurt...but we stand firm most of the time!
- Adores her sunglasses and will wear them for hours...inside or out!
- Bob and Warry (Veggie Tales) hold a special place in her heart! She LOUDLY asks to listen to their music....watch there videos....color their pictures..."I want Bob and Warry!" is pretty much a standard saying in our house :)

Hannah is a super duper big sister! She is so patient with Sadie(most of the time) as Sadie follows her around. She would love it if she were her Mommy! Sometimes I have to remind her that she is her sister and I am the Mommy :) I will choose the consequences...and enforce them.

Hannah and I have started reading lessons....on 16 of 100 and she is doing awesome! I love how short they are...and she is beyond EXCITED to be able to read!

Fun things about Hannah...
- She absolutely ADORES the water. She would drag Daddy around the lazy river at Sea World as many times as she could convince him too. (It's not such a lazy river with a 4 yr old who won't let you have a tube and wants to jump on you!)
- When she gets excited she jumps up and down, up and down......It must be her go to when she doesn't know how else to show her excitement! Super Cute!
- She is quite fond of the Hippy, Hippy Shake...and would volunteer to go down and shake it at the Sea World show :)
-Her favorite thing she owns is "her dress that goes all the way to the ground" Best 12 bucks ever spent...she is quite fancy!
- She loves to read(look at books)! Her favorites right now are Fancy Nancy, and the Magic Tree House....and everything else :)
- She is really into the Princesses....as much as we will let her be.....I think it is mostly because of the clothes they wear. I saw her and Daddy looking at "beautiful dresses" on the internet the other day! Whose child is this?? I loved sweats and work out clothes :)
- The other day she was trying to get me to see her point of view and she said "it just makes more sense"....What?? Really?? Funny stuff :)
- She really just totally lives up to her middle name...joy...she is joyful and enjoys everything! She is soo fun...and energetic. A great blessing to us!
- She remembers everything you say....everything. So it is a must to stick to your plan in this house or the 4 yr old will catch you :)
- Her favorite thing to eat right now is Ham and cheese! I am so thankful for this...she wants one all the time. Makes packing lunches easy ;) For breakfast she loves bars (Daddy's favorite). Makes breakfast easy too!
- Loves going to church...always comes home talking about what she learned...the most recent was her explaining to me that "before there was light...the Earth was really really dark! Then God said, "light be" and there was light!!" Priceless :)
- Hannah LOVES sign language right now....and we are trying to encourage it as much as we know how! She loves the signing time videos and books...and learning new signs. At Sea World at the beginning of the summer...she introduced herself as Hannah...when the boy did not respond she said her name again and signed it for him!! So cute...the little boy had NO idea what she was doing...

We had such a great summer and lots of visitors! We look forward to another great year! I am so thankful that I am able to stay home and be with these 2 sweet girls! Thank you Jake!!

More on preschool, summer visits, and daily life soon! I have to finish up...nap time is over! I do not understand what is going on with my pictures...they show up as words and symbols....anyone know how to fix that?? I love pictures :)

Back on the Saddle

Well...I am back. I will really try to be more reliable in the blogging since. We have had a wonderful couple of months. The girls are growing so fast...I try to cherish every moment. One night in November while the girls were taking their bath, Sadie decided to show off. She apparently knew eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, hair and how to point to them but had never show us till then. In the middle of the bath she proceeded to stand up and point them all out to us perfectly. We were sooo surprised. This girl doesn't miss a beat!

Sadie went from speaking Chinese on the last video to speaking 1 word at a time very clearly. Some of the words she says all the time are: Hannah (Hanie which sometimes sounds like hiney :), Daddy, Mommy, Sadie, paci, kiss, hi,night night, please, thank you, bye, Papa, Grandmere (sounds like crownbear), Sugar, stop, no, gigi, movie (sounds like fooey), juice, drink, crackers, cookies (which sounds like carkeys),carseat, yes (which sounds like ash :) ), and love you (which sounds like luuvu). She is so sweet. Loves to kiss and hug and cuddle.

Recently....Sadie decided to go from 1 word at a time to sentences. She says things like... I don't know, where did it go, I don't want any, dance movie?, I help you, stop it, color it? and many more I don't remember at the moment.

Hannah is busy, busy! She is a great helper and a fabulous big sister. She is very sensitive to how others are feeling and including them. She will be a great friend and mommy!

For Jake's birthday, I got him a flight with Hannah. They just flew to Houston and back. I think 3 hours was the grand total of time they were gone. Hannah is obssessed with planes and is always asking when she was going to get to go on a plane. So....her dream came true...she was sooo excited and they made a great memory. Jake said she giggled while the plane was taking off and was just completely thrilled! How fun....

Blogger is doing something weird with the photos....so they are all at the top with no captions... We do more later!

Hmmm....not sure what you do with a boy on pumpkins! You probably lay off the glitter and more cammo?!! Who knows?? I guess we will wait and see if even have a boy (in the future) For now we are content with glitter, feathers, and all things girly! :)

A Little Ridiculous!

Yes...it is going on 2 months since the last post. Life has been busy....really busy! We are all fantastic! Sadie is walking....almost running....wow!! Hannah is so much fun....her new favorite song is...."This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made....." She sings it over and over and over....precious! Jake is amazing & I am so blessed to be married to a winner!

I am great too! I look forward to fleshing this last few months out a little more later...but wanted to show you that we are present and accounted for :)!

Oh.....I almost forgot......

Jacob's sister Bekah got married to Daniel on Tuesday! Yep Tuesday! I think they were officially engaged for 5 days! Crazy kids.. :) We are excited for them and look forward to getting to know "Uncle Daniel" more! Congratulations Rebekah and Daniel! We look forward to seeing some pictures soon!

And....my new niece Lexi...joined us on Wednesday! She is absolutely beautiful....from the pictures anyway! I have not seen her yet...but soon very soon! Welcome Lexi! We have been looking forward to meeting you! Poor Lincoln is the lone boy in the group currently. Don't worry...he is very much a BOY!! And he loves his girls too! Congratulations Melanie and Scott!

7 Random Things

Well....I think I was tagged about a month ago to do this....so here we go. I think I hesitate because I am not sure I can narrow it down to only 7 :)!!

1. I have a screw in my left foot. I fractured my left metatarsal playing softball in college and this was supposedly the quicker and more secure fix...:) My friend (the trainer) got to go into my surgery and she said they used something that looked like a Black and Decker drill to drill the screw in... How disturbing it that?? Feels a little strange when rain is coming or it is really cold!

2. I leave cabinet doors open all the time. I think that a vehemently denied this until about a month ago! I have been noticing that all the kitchen cabinets are open....and if you know Jacob...it is NOT him. So, I told Jake that I think I leave the cabinets open.....and he just looked at me like....what in the world took you so long to figure that out??!! Yesterday he looked at me....smiled and said "Honey, you missed one." Totally made me crack up! Seriously....I am working on it!

3. I know all the words to all the Wiggles songs....probably moves too! Hannah loves the Wiggles....and they have definitely grown on me! We like Big Red Boat, Racing the Rainbow, and Live the best!! It is funny when you start singing the words to a Wiggle song at random times......"Hot Potato, Hot Potato or Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy!" and endless others. It is especially weird to make up your own words to a Wiggle song....and sing it during the day! Such as

(to the tune of Fruit Salad)

Pick up your toys
It's time to clean!

Put your shoes
In your closet

One squirt of soap
to wash your hands

etc... :)

4. I've not yet had a group of close friends that all like each other! I have always had friends that were totally different and sometimes that disliked the others....so strange!! Sometimes things were very awkward! :) I look forward to having a group of close girlfriends who all enjoy each other in the future!

5. I get a 2nd wind at 11 pm! When most people are winding down or already fast asleep...I get reenergized. I could easily stay up all night! But the morning is not so great...especially now that there are kids to care for! This is Jacob's favorite quality about me! ;)

6. I love to read! I love to read fiction....Christian fiction....you name it....I have read it. I also really like to read books that help me become a better me, mom, friend, wife. I think that before you get married there should be some required reading....."The 5 Love Languages", "Personality Plus", "Love & Respect" and at least every woman should read "Battlefield of the Mind" These 4 reads would have saved hours and hours and hours of blood, sweat, and tears in relationships....but mostly in marriage. Thankfully we found them and are really better for it.

7. I love to take pictures & I love to pop things. I stand by the philosophy that if you take alot of pictures then you WILL get some good ones.. I think we take WAY WAY more pictures than the average family...but I love it. I also like to pop things on me and other people. Zits and such. I do not know why and I know it is gross!! Jake has banned me....

Sadie crawled over our order and played in the corner!! Too funny...I think she is going to be one of those kids that likes forts in the living room!

This is what happens when your 3 yr old feeds your 1 yr old without supervision. Result= big mess, food everywhere but inside mouth!

Here is Hannah "assisting" Sadie in a walk around. She is trying really hard to remember to walk at a snail's pace and not to drag Sadie along the carpet! Fun times!

Quick story on HJ

Went into her bedroom the other night when she was suppose to be sleeping. She was talking. I decided to ask her who she was talking to her before giving her her consequence.

Hannah: "I'm talking to Jesus"

Me: "What are you talking to Jesus about?"

Hannah: "I asked him to keep my friends safe. Then my knee hurt so I asked Jesus to heal my knee and it is better. "

Me: "Anything else?"

Hannah: "Jesus likes my animals. He thinks they are pretty!"

Me: "That is great Hannah! Are you and Jesus finished talking?"

Hannah: " No, we are not done yet"

Me: "What else are you going to talk to Jesus about?"

Hannah: "Your birthday!"

The next day at nap time I went in to check on her......

Hannah: " Mommy, Jesus is not talking to me!"

Me: "What?"

Hannah: "Jesus is not talking to me!"

Me: "Maybe Jesus just wants you to take your nap and he will talk to you when you wake up."

Hannah: "Yeah...he does"

Well there you have it....Jesus likes naps too :)

The faith of a child! Don't we all want our children to develop a habit of talking to Jesus and never stop?? I'm so glad I took the time to ask!

Easter 2008

Here is a video from our Easter earlier this year. We go to Jacob's great uncle & aunt's house (nearly every year) located in Cleburne. There has been an Easter Egg Hunt at this location for over 50 years!! Absolutely amazing. Notice all the people and kids running around everywhere.
Hannah had a blast and even Sadie had some fun, as you can see.

Our family 'video guy' knows this is not his best work. He claims he 'needs' new equipment to improve the memory collection!

Spring Recap

How about a little Spring Recap? Jake said not to apologize just to get to it so here we go :)!! It has been such a weird but wonderful Spring at the Smith house! The girls are growing faster and faster! Somedays I just wish they would pause and let me absorb them at this stage....but they keep growing and learning and changing! My friend says not to get sad at their milestones....she said, "Michelle, just have another one!" Well that is a thought....but not yet!!

This Spring....we have had 2 birthdays, Easter, fun cousin time.....and lots of things Mommy can no longer remember. Jacob has been on the road a bunch for work...so things are crazy. We are very thankful to have him home now....we are definitely not complete without him. He makes me a better wife, mommy, friend, and just better all the way around. So when he is gone....you can imagine!! :) I am thankful that we did pretty well and surprised ourselves this time....single moms....wow....you guys are amazing! I have no idea how you do it! And to be honest....I pray I never have to endure more than just some long business trips! I will, however, continue to be amazed at you guys!

Without going into details....Jake and I are excited about May! April was a tough month in more ways than I care to remember....but PTL.....He has brought us through and we can see the light! It is absolutely amazing how much you learn and grow when your back is up against a wall! We are thankful and excited to see God continue to work mightily in our lives in the months ahead! We have never been more excited....and we are headed forward...Yay!

For some strange reason I only got these shots of the girls in their Easter dresses. I think I am going to redo this and "pretend" to get some good shots of them in their coordinating dresses! Hannah wore her pink princess shoes to church....yep I am now one of those mothers :) Oh well...next year we may actually remember shoes with the outfit when we buy it?!!

She did have 4 at one time....but she was playing with it. When she was finished playing with it, she sat it down beside her. And....it got rehunted....regifted....or re-egged.....whatever you want to say! Needless to say Sadie did not even notice :)! Here Hannah is being such a great big sister and helping Sadie....soooo cute!

Bored with hunting eggs.....Sadie decides that this stick looks really fun to play with! And boy did this stick entertain :)!!!

When even the stick is not entertaining anymore....you can always try eating the Easter basket! That is always a fun thing to do. :)

After the hunt was over and everyone is counting, Sadie crawled right up to her cousin's pile and started shaking! She had a blast!! It was hilarious!

Notice that she found the money egg VERY quickly....watch out Daddy....I am going to be just like Mommy....at least where money is concerned :)

After such a tough day of eating and hunting eggs....they had to relax on the playset :)! This is such a wonderful tradition that Jacob's family (Uncle Charles and Aunt RubyLee) put together each year! All the family comes....what a blessing to be in this family :)!!

Aunt Bekah is awesome....she even went down the slide with HJ....which of course she loves! And Yes, she was screaming her name when we had to leave....those are always fun times in the car! One child screaming so loudly that it wakes the other and then they are both going at it!!! Lovely!

Hannah preparing dinner....I think she is putting on the pepperoni here. I love the look of concentration on her face :) I think the pepperoni placing went something like....One for Hannah, one for the pizza, one for Hannah......etc. Eventually we had a wondeful dinner....eventually :)

This is a daily occurrence at the Smith house. Does anyone else have any chore helpers? Too cute and she is always so proud of herself! All is great until she puts the steak knife in her mouth !

The Sock Bandit.....I would take all the socks away and turn around and she would have gathered them all back up....and then she would bite them....all of them....?? Who knows why...but it is precious! Sadie can frequently be seen crawling with socks in her hand or hanging out of her mouth.....apparently it is her teething apparatus of choice! Too funny!

I love this serious face.....this girl does not miss anything. She is so observant. I also love this homemade outfit....it has ruffles on the bottom! Love it!!

There are many reasons I love this photo. 1. The hair- this is how Sadie's hair looks every morning....some sticking straight up and some laying super straight!! Wild thing!!! 2. The one tooth!! Yes, she is turning one with one tooth!! This does not deter her from eating big girl food! She just gums it and sucks on it till it dissolves. Gross I know...and messy too! 3. The teething smile- I call it the teething smile cause she is always moving her gums around on each other and her teeth and then doing a funky but precious smile!!

Mommy....please keep the floors cleaner....don't you know that I pick up EVERYTHING!! Like you said....nothing gets by me.

I love this dress!! Beautiful! But my favorite part of this picture is Hannah. Don't you love it when they get tickled and you can see sheer joy on their faces!!! Such a blessing!!

Yes....my princess is gnawing on a chicken bone!! Yuck!! My mom gave it to her....she ate or sucked on it for 15 minutes! Hopefully she will not develop Papa's chicken eating habits. It is just not lady like :)

AAh....is the favorite and frequent word used by Ms. Sadie Grace! This is also the face you get when you ask for a kiss! It is a full mouth open assault!! So fun...and wet! :)

So at what age do they learn feet first over the edge??? Apparently....she is not ready for that....she likes to linger at the edge!!

Hannah vs Monsters

Ok, so I am back. Hannah has had a birthday party (yes, pictures and stories to come), but since that fateful March 9th day, she has had an explosion of personality. Before her nap on Monday, Hannah proceeded to tell the most amazing story about her and monsters. (Hannah says she learned about 'monsters' from her Aunt Liz.) I will just let HJ tell you what happened in her own words, as she guides you to where the monsters were.

So sorry to the 2 people who actually read this blog for being away so long! No excuses. All is well in the Smith family! Sadie is growing so fast! She is now waving, pushing herself up to a sitting position, clapping and army crawling! I can not believe how fast she can get around. No more having 1 stationary and 1 moving child! Both moving......so is Mommy!

Hannah is doing fantastic! She is only one month away from turning 3...I can not believe this. Things she loves to do right now include....putting on lipstick(chapstick), paint, SWING, go to pre-school, try all of Sadie's baby food, read, change her baby's diaper, drink chocolate milk, and be a "Mommy" to Sadie :)!

Here are some recent pictures....I will have to get to Christmas later...one Blog step at a time!

Hannah is not excited about sharing a picture Bailey (the other lucky recipient of the famous Kiley makeovers!)

Sadie loves saltene crackers. It takes her like 10-15 minutes to completely eat one, but she is persistent. She will gum it till the end! (she does not yet have any teeth but that does not stop her!!)

Hannah is playing us some blues on the harmonica. Actually this girl is way better than Jacob and I. The sounds that she has come out are actually pleasing to the ear. She just might be a natural! :)

All dressed up in purple! Hannah really likes when the girls match right now. They do not have any matching clothes (yet), but they do have matching colors! She likes to say, "Mommy! Sadie and I are both wearing green! We match!" It is cute to watch them think and learn new things everyday! I am so blessed.

Every little girl needs a good set of overalls :) Daddy picked these out and did an excellent job!

I know this is not the best picture but it was so cute. Hannah picked up a book off the bookshelf and went to her pink chair to read. She then went into a 15-minute monolog about Jesus. Not sure exactly what she was saying but I know at one point she said all the words to the Zacchaeus song. When she got to her favorite part she shouted "Zacchaeus, you come down for I'm going to your house today!"
Then she continued to talk and say Jesus at least 2 times per minute! Too precious!

Some stories from the last few weeks:

Hannah has now started calling us Mom and Dad sometimes. It is hilarious and sad at the same time. We have no idea where she picked that up from and it is just funny to hear such a little person call you Mom and Dad instead of Mommy and Daddy!

One of my favorite sounds in the world is the sound of the girls laughing. It often happens in the car. It seems that the mere sight of Hannah is funny to Sadie! Hannah prides herself on making Sadie giggle and then she can't help but join in! I want to remember these moments forever!

Hannah is really into healing right now. Anytime, anything remotely hurts her she tells me that she wants Jesus to heal her. Jesus has been busy healing HJ lately...he has healed her lip, toe, leg, head, foot etc. How beautiful is the faith of a child that Jesus will heal her...and he does. I learn to believe Him at his word from my 2 year old!

One last story about HJ. She loves to swing. So we went to the park and she was swinging. She loves to go "Super high" and I am talking about as high as the "big kids". Anytime you let her go and she thinks it is too low she will tell you again that she wants to go "super high"! So as she is swinging she is telling me she wants to go super high again. I guess she did not think I could hear her, so she turns around and tells me. Then she turns around again and tells me "super high", but this time she puts her arms out to show me how high she wants to go. WELL, letting go is not recommended when swinging! As soon as she let go, I was in the process of pushing her super high! So she does a back layout (flip) off the swing and lands face down in the mulch! Mulch was everywhere! It was crazy! I walked her over to dust her off and she was mad at me that I would not let her SWING! So, as soon as I de mulched her....back on the swings she went. One lady said, "You know there are baby swings on the other side of the playground" I know that! Hannah is not a baby! It is easier to stay on the swings when you are holding on!! Oh well, I am sure she meant to help....but it made me feel like she thought I was a bad Mom! Hannah sure liked it and did not have any boo-boos from her time in the mulch :)! PTL!

We have had an awesome week here at the Smith house! Yay! We are back on a schedule of some sort....well at least the kids are :)! But isn't that the only thing that counts??? Sadie is back to super happy girl....but still no teeth to be seen yet. She totally weened herself last month :(! Not the plan (I planned to go for a year), but I know that 7 months is good and she will be healthy! I am also excited about not having to worry about milk supply! I can now get this baby weight off! Yay! That is the plan....Trim Advantage here I come!

Not sure if I have mentioned it on here, but Hannah is exploring her senses! :) She wants to see if her nostrils can be used to carry rocks from one place to the other!! The answer is yes! Thank goodness that Ms. Kellie has 2 boys and is no stranger to items up the nose! The tweezer/finger surgery was successful PTL! No doctor needed! I think it is funny...but the 2nd time she did it was not as funny!

Jake and I went to Lake Lanier in Atlanta, Georgia this past weekend! We had so much fun!! It is great to be around people that are positive, uplifting, and that love you! Thanks for a fantastic weekend friends! I did learn 2 things (well actually like 200) that I would like to share with you.

1. We put God in a very small box. He is WAY more powerful than we give HIM credit for. He wants to move powerfully....if we would only believe! I believe.....wow!

2. This phrase....I love it....don't be surprised to hear me say it if you are speaking negative about anything I care about. ( And by negative I mean...."there is a cold going around that you are bound to catch" or "she is acting like a brat today" or "our country is going down the drain" etc, etc.

Here is the statement...."I reject your reality and substitute it with one of my own!"

okay here is a 3rd lesson learned.....we must be in the word! How will we know His promises or be able to stand during the attacks of the enemy if we have no knowledge of the word???

I love this statement...."That may be fact, but here is the truth. (and by truth I mean quoting the word of God).

This might not make any sense to you....but wow what a life changing weekend for me! (Most likely Jake too...but we are "scheduled" to talk tonight!

I know the 1st part is talked about all the time....why not the part starting with "And these signs...." Any comments??? Please comment....

Hello Friends! There will be no excuses as to why this is so long in the making! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving....the Smith family sure did. It is always a challenge to eat 2 Thanksgiving meals in one day! They were spread out better this year, so that helped! We had a lot of fun with family! I don't know where to start writing so I will just start with the pictures & comments :)

Wow, I think she is getting more beautiful every day! It is hard to believe she is 7 months old! I want her to stay little....Hannah is growing up fast enough! I was worried before Sadie was born because Hannah was barely talking in 2 word phrases. No need to worry....now she is talking in sentences, paragraphs, and gets a little bossy from time to time :)! She is becoming my best little helper! I love it when I ask her to do something and she says "Sure I will Mommy!" It is so cute!

Hannah really does not like to get dirty unless it is on her terms! She had no idea what this pumpkin adventure would involve!

Seriously, she was not too happy about this! But in a way that only Daddy can....he convinced her it would be fun!

Apparently Sadie is doing the tiger here at cousin Lincoln! She is making such a funny face. These were our first Unger family photos in a long time. It is a little challenging with 3 kids that are 3 and under. Thank you Liz for your skills and patience!

If only they would both smile and look at the camera at the same time! There was quite the audience in the back .....so it was a little distracting :)

I love this picture! It is hilarious! They are ALL smiling......at the same time....just at different people! Pretty cute! We have the Smith family photo shoot in December so we will give it another go! One thing we do not lack in this family is pictures....I love them....I love taking them....I love looking at them....so I have taken about 5000 since Sadie was born. Crazy!!!! Thank goodness for digital cameras....you can take all you want and edit/delete later!!!

Thanksgiving Day brought snow in Abilene. Here is the beginning at the Smith meal.

This is across the street from the Unger house just a couple hours later!!! Crazy. Needless to say these San Antonionians were not that prepared for all the white snow! But what a memory it was.

A funny Hannah story....while Jacob and I were talking in the living room, Hannah walked up to us and said, "Guys stay here (with her hand out in the stop signal) I'm just going to check my me-mail! ok?" Hilarious!!! She has also mastered escaping from the crib.....so I guess a big girl bed is coming next :(!!

I have been working on getting this posted for 3 days now....seriously! Hope you enjoy the massive amount of pictures!

I guess if you are not the mom of a 2 year old your blog title might say lengthy! But Hannah's new favorite word seems to be "super". I want to go super fast, super high, super kiss, super hug, super big etc.... So, super long it is! So much has happened! I am going to go through my pictures and then tell the story as they go! Enjoy!

Oh yeah.....NEWS FLASH.....Sadie is now sitting up all by herself! She started right at 6 months. It is amazing how fast they grow up. I strive to enjoy every moment I can at each age!

It started with train rides, then food, then gifts, then presents, then park time, and to top it off a Halloween party that the kids dressed up for! So much fun....almost too much for a 2 year old with no nap!!! :) We made it! She fell asleep in the car on the way home (6:30 ish), and did not wake up until 8:30 the next morning. She was pooped!

Well I know it has been a long time!! The girls and I were gone for 10 days and then the last 5 have been getting back on a regular schedule. I think we are pretty much back in the groove... Well, at least as much of a groove as we get into around here! So many things have happened that I do not know where to start! I think I will start with some pictures. I will probably try to blog short stories every day for a while to get caught back up!

I babysat my nephew Kason for a few hours. He hates to leave his family......(he doesn't do it often) There is lots of crying. Here he suddenly stopped crying and was out cold! I was sitting right beside him! Hilarious!! It is funny that as soon as his parents get there he is all smiles!!! Not so much with me. :)

I guess this is the definition of off roading!?!? Do you notice how Sadie is not even disturbed by this action? I love her easygoing, content, and sweet personality!

I am happy to report that we have had 3 dry nights in a row at the Smith house!!! Yea! We think the wet bed was a fluke, but I guess time will tell! Hannah is still loving preschool...this week she got to stay till 2pm. I am happy to announce that at 2 pm she is finally ready to come home. Now that she is completely exhausted! Then she goes straight down for a nap. I usually have to wake her up after 2 1/2 hours.....we do want her to go to bed some time at night!!

I have found a secret to waking Hannah up in the mornings. All you have to do is put a little Sadie in the bed beside her! Not only does she wake up quickly, she wakes up happy and cuddly! Not sure Sadie is really excited about it....but she will take one for the team! This has worked more than one time! This is a good thing to know on preschool mornings when we need to move quickly and in a good mood!! Here are some pictures from the 1st successful Sadie wake up!! This must have been a wake-up from a nap because both girls are already dressed!

Well, Sadie has not wanted anything to do with oatmeal since she threw it up last Saturday! I have tried every night. I think it is because she is trying to cut these teeth! Jake thinks she might remember throwing it up ??? That would be amazing, but I am not sure that is accurate! So, we tried sweet potatoes on Wednesday. She made the most horrible faces!! I think we had 5 bites total! It probably seemed like 50 to her because of how many times I had to put the same bite back in! Here are some photos from the sweet potato experience!

Too Soon....

I guess I spoke too soon about Hannah in her panties! Maybe not, she is still in her panties at night but hasn't been dry in 2 nights! This morning Sadie woke up at 5:30 (those teeth are coming soon!!), so I was nursing her when I hear screaming. I had to wake Jake up to check on Hannah. When I finished nursing Sadie and was headed to put her to bed, I see Hannah in a bubble bath. This is 5:45 in the morning....crazy! ( If you guys know us at all we are not early morning people and have trained our kids the same. Hannah would be happy to sleep till 10 every morning, but then she would not go to bed till 11 at night and that wouldn't work really well for preschool, ladies class, church, etc............so we get her up at 8ish :0 ) So this morning was really weird for us. Sadie went straight to sleep : ) ! We changed Hannah's sheets (for the 3 rd time in 3 days) found some acceptable blankets, and put her back in bed. Thank goodness she went back to sleep! I should add here that Hannah was in a great mood at 5:45 this morning! Better than she is at 8.

In my last post I mentioned Hannah going to spend the night with Aunt Liz and Uncle Michael. I meant to put this in there but got distracted :)! Jake and I have lived in San Antonio for 7ish years now and love it. We have never had family near by, but didn't really mind since the drive was just 4 hours to family! Now with little ones, I can definitely see the benefit of living near family. Just Hannah spending the night with the Cauley's was refreshing and wonderful! Those of you who have family around.......be thankful. You are very blessed! Show your gratitude. I am a little jealous today of those of you who can go out and NOT have to pay a babysitter each time! But that does not mean we are moving to Abilene! Just wanted to let you know that those of you with family who are happy to help you with your children, you are blessed.

Sorry there are no pictures this time. We don't look our best at 5:30 in the morning! And pictures of wet sheets are not that exciting.

Teething

Well, Sadie is fully committed to this teething thing right now! She is drooling everywhere.
We have also had some unusually late (night owls) around here with her teeth coming in! The other night was 3 am! Poor girl....we are praying that those teeth come through quickly so she can get back to her smiley, sleepy, and non-drooly self!

As for an update on Hannah.....she now sleeps through the night with panties and not a diaper! :) I am completely amazed how fast this child potty trained! She practically dragged Jacob and I through it! She was still sleeping in a diaper until Wednesday night. We left the girls with her babysitter. The next morning she woke up and I went to take the diaper off and it was not there! She was dry and looked at me like "what's the big deal mom?" (She doesn't use a diaper during naps anymore so I guess this step was not a big deal to her) So the next night we have the babysitter again and the same thing happens. She wakes up dry again. Seems pretty silly to go backwards so we just keep it going! Way to go Hannah!! Such a big girl!

A big thank you to Aunt Liz, Uncle Michael, Kiley, Bailey, and Kason for having Hannah over for a sleep over Friday night! Jacob just started a new job in the last 2 weeks that have been crazy hours! This will change...he is just learning and getting into his groove :) He also works Saturday, so I have been running the show day and night!! Big change from this summer when he was home at least a little bit every day!! So it was greatly appreciated for Hannah to have a night away! The only thing that was not appreciated was the cell phone with make-up in it!! We have blue eye shadow everywhere!! She says it HAS to go on her lips....reminds me of the 80's! We are coming up with a plan to hide it....tonight! Thanks again!

Aunt Bekah bought this Zebra book for Hannah, but it is soft and I really like it!

Ready for the next bite!

Here Brian, let me try it!! I think I can do it by myself! Who would have known that she would throw ALL of it up less than 2 hours later! The funny part is she was still sleeping through her throw up!! Yuck! Of course we had to take a middle of the night bath! She loved it....all smiles! I'll tell you this girl is even happy during vomiting! Amazing! What a blessing!

Hannah's favorite "Princess Shoes" that she wears ALL the time! Her favorite outfit right now are these heels and her panties only! I took pictures of that but did not want to offend anyone with a more than 1/2 naked girl!! I wonder if other 2 year old girls run around with out clothes on??? Anyways....thanks Sugar for the dress up shoes!!

5 months old!

Today our Sadie is 5 months old! What a difference 5 months make! She has been a joy since day one. Such a sweet little girl, that is content with whatever comes her way.....even Hannah accidentally stepping on or sitting on her :) Hannah has been wonderful with her too....she always says, "Where is MY Sadie?" It is so cute to watch Sadie smile and giggle at Hannah. I have 2 brothers that were not all that funny.....so I did not laugh at them! :) Now however, they are hilarious and I laugh at the often! I just think this sister love is sooo cute!

Mobilization Begins

Well, I believe I forgot some things that happened this past week in my last post. I did not forget the last thing in this blog.....the 1st one just got too long!

Let's start with Wednesday....

After church, the girls and I walk into the house. I put Sadie's car seat (with her in it) on the coffee table and go to change clothes. About 1 minute later Hannah starts screaming and then I hear Sadie screaming too.... Hannah had pulled Sadie off the table and she had flipped onto the floor!!! Thank God that the "roll bar" :) was up and Sadie was still strapped in. It mostly just scared them. So I put Sadie on one leg and Hannah on the other and let them cry for a minute until they realized their world was just fine!! When did Hannah get to be so strong??

Then on Thursday....

Hannah did not want to leave preschool yet again! Jacob had to hold her down to get into the car seat! We are so excited that she likes her preschool........but seriously, a temper tantrum every time we pick her up??? By the way, she is still crying when she gets home and goes straight down for her nap! Everyone needed it! :)
After her nap, Hannah kept saying that she had a boobie and she wanted me to tiss it (kiss it). She was holding out her arm though....?? Then I figured it out....she had a boo boo. She knew how to say boo boo when she was 1. Why is she calling it a boobie now?? Pretty funny, but a little weird in public places!

Friday is when things get pretty interesting!

My friend Katie and her daughter Jayden (14 mo) come over to play for a couple of hours. When they were leaving I laid Sadie down on her back in the living room and walked out with Hannah to say goodbye. Katie put Jayden in her car seat & I closed the passenger door to keep Hannah's little hands out of all the goodies she was finding. I saw that Hannah had a book of Jayden's so I tried to open the door and put it in, but it was locked!! Jayden was locked in with the keys! Thank goodness it was only 70 degrees! I went in to go find a hangar and try to unlock the door. When I walked inside....Sadie was on her belly!! Her first roll over and I missed it. Not only did I miss it, I had to hurry and get Jayden out of the locked car! The hangar did work, and we were able to open the door in 5 minutes or less! PTL. Later that night when Daddy was home we put Sadie down to she if she would roll again and YES she did! I missed her 1st one, but got her 2nd, 3rd, and 4th on camera and video! See pictures below!

Did it! Then she looked at her audience like, "What's the big deal people?" After her first roll that we (Mommy, Daddy, Hannah, Brian & Karen) saw, we cheered so loud that it made Sadie and Hannah cry!! Funny!

On their way home from the store, Hannah asked Daddy if she could drive home? Seriously, she is only 2! :)

While I was putting this blog together, my wonderful husband bathed, lotioned, dressed AND put Sadie down for the night! Wow! Such a treat!

Eventful Week!

Hello friends! We have had such an eventful week around here that it finally convinced me to start this blog. Our girls are growing so fast and we want to

share the memories and milestones with you guys! I will be posting a lot of pictures, so you can see them as they grow for those of you (grandparents & friends) that do not live near us! Hope you enjoy! Here are some photos of the last couple weeks. ...

Finally a huge grin caught by the camera!! She smiles ALL the time but the flash sometimes causes her to stop smiling before the photo is taken! Not this time!

Hannah had homework before she even went to her first day of school. These preschool teachers are tough !! :) It is the 1st time in years that I have busted out the craft tub! Hannah ate way more cereal than actually made it onto the paper.....but she had lots of fun!
